February Featured Plus Size Diva

I’d like to congratulate Clanethia for being the First Featured Plus Size Diva of the month! You are awesome and inspiring!

Clanethia

Hello, my name is Clanethia and I am the 1st Plus Size featured Diva of the month.

Those of you who read this I’m sure we can definitely relate to one another. I have for years hidden who I was because of my weight. I wore clothing that was not flattering. I tried to hide behind anything and everything. I had no confidence in myself. I’d get up in the morning and put on anything that would hide me from the world.

As time went on and days past I realized if I don’t have confidence in me who will. Each day after this realization or epiphany I would say something positive to myself in the mirror such as you look beautiful today or I really like the outfit you have on. I know this may sound corny but we have to take responsibility for who we are and not allow others to define us.

This change took some time to achieve. It’s not something that happens over night. You have to be committed to yourself and your feelings. Once you build or re-build yourself up, no one can take that away from you, despite what they might say. Remember this; people will talk about you until the day you die. Regardless if it’s something positive or negative but for us it’s normally negative. It’s not our job to correct people, who probably 10-1 have self-esteem issues themselves. They automatically assume because we’re plus size women that there’s something/someone missing, were unhappy, or were eating because we have voids. What about the realization that there could be health factors involved or a mother who’s had children (I know about this one because after having my third son I’ve had the hardest time losing the weight and you know what my motto is TAKE ME AS I AM OR MOVE ON) Society does not care about the rude remarks they make or the constant stares. I’ve learned to embrace that by saying they’ve never seen a big beautiful woman in their presence. So I give them something to look at I put a little swing in my hips and a little twist in my walk, and Ooh mama I’ve defeated them along with their clichés. We are not in-human we have feelings just as anyone else.

To all my plus size divas define who you are TODAY. Don’t wait until you feel that everything has been taking away from you. STAND UP for who you are.

Make your mark in this world:

Hold your head up high

Be radiant

Be Confident

Be seductive

and Poised

because that’s who we really are. Beauty!!!!!!

This message is to help and uplift anyone who is where I used to be. If I can reach just one I’d feel I’ve done my job. I want all plus size women to know we’ve all gone through our ups and downs. It’s about how you arise to the situation or the occasion.

Sincerely

One Plus Size Diva to the Next
