Plus Size Dresses – Get Rid of the Tent This Year and Look Sexy

You know, I spent an entire day last week shopping for a dress for a friend’s wedding. Needless to say I came home empty handed and ended up wearing a nice set of dress pants to the wedding. I found that many of the dresses made me look short and plumpy..which mind you, I am…lol BUT I wanted something that didn’t make me look like I was sporting a 7 month pregnant tummy…Diane has some really good advice on shopping for dresses this year. Be sure to visit her link as the site has some really cute dresses to choose from!

Plus Size Dresses, hug the right curves and hide the ones you don’t like.

Finally designers have started to create the right dresses for the curvy plus size girl, and yet are fashionable and make you feel great.

If you are a plus size girl, who has given up on shopping for any nice plus size dresses, or any clothes for that matter, and have resorted to the baggy t-shirts and sweat shirts, then it is time to dust yourself off and get yourself out there.

Many retailers have setup plus size departments, since they have realized that over 65% of North American women are considered plus size (size 14 and up) and yet, many retailers would display and stock single digit sized outfits and dresses. No wonder we would get stuck with the shapeless tent!

There are specialty plus size fashion stores, as well as retailers including plus size fashions in their departments. This is good for their bottom line, but no so good for your wallet, as you will find all kinds of nice outfits to make you feel great!

Change your shopping habits, and start accepting invites to those parties and galas, as you will be going to the ball this year. Check out this years plus size evening wear, especially nice, chic and trendy. Designers have figured out fashions that hug the right curves. But like anyone who goes shopping for clothes, you need to figure out the parts you want to enhance, and the parts you don’t.

Find a sparkly dress and wear some heels, it will enhance your legs, and your dress. Find some great accessories too, scarves, purses, shoes. These will all help to make you feel good. Designers have created styles, that suit the plus size girl, no more tugging at too tight waistlines, or pulling at too tight sleeves. Check out the styles, especially some of the flared sleeves and dresses, these fit well. Go shopping and check out the parties this year.

Fat Bottomed Girls and the Erosion of Female Self Worth

I was out hunting for some good articles to stick up here, and found this one. It’s a tad bit long…but well worth the read!

Do you ever find yourself apologising for your size? It is a sad fact of life that many women do these days. We’ve become indoctrinated into thinking that big is bad and thin is beautiful, and that the emaciated waifs we see in the media have the perfect must have figure

Yet, history shows it’s actually big women that men find most attractive. The works of Renaissance masters like Botticelli and Rubens show that even the Medieval female was the object of immense fascination and scrutiny. Yet, the women immortalised on these ancient canvases little resemble the super slim celebrities of the modern age. Rather, Renaissance women are often depicted as gloriously full figured, with full bosoms, ample tummies and large bottoms.

Yet, they were still celebrated as objects of beauty… (more…)

Plus Size – You Are Beautiful – Dress Like It!

Just wanted to share an article I found and though you all might like:

Pick any media source and what do you see? Super thin models who appear to eat a single bread crumb as their total caloric intake each day. This can be discouraging if you are a full figured woman. Don’t let it be! You can be just as beautiful as them.

Most of us women focus obsessively on our outfits because we believe a particular look will get across a point we are trying to make. A sexy black dress will show off our smoldering, seductive side. A correctly cut skirt suit will show off our professional side. As you well know, there seems to be a look for just about every occasion.

Make no mistake. The outfit you wear does go a long way to making a particular impression. That being said, there are two parts to the process. The second is how you carry yourself. Some call this attitude, but it is really about confidence.

A woman who feels sexy, will be sexy. It is as simple as that. Why? Attitude shows through in everything we do. It always has and it always will. Any piece of clothing is only as attractive as the woman wearing it. Attraction is all about attitude. Many women think attitude really only applies to men. It doesn’t. It applies to women just as much.

Picture in your mind a woman in a black cocktail dress. Is she sexy and the focus of men or not? The answer depends largely on her attitude which is conveyed by her body language. If she is “mousy” and passive, her body language will be in contrast to the attitude of the dress and she simply is not going to look good. If, on the other hand, she is confident, her body language will convey that and the dress will look great as an accessory to her overall beauty.

You are who you are. If you are plus size, you can do two things – lose weight or accept yourself. Even if you decide to lose weight, you still are going to be plus size for a bit and you still are going to want to look good. You can. It is all about being comfortable with yourself and confident. Any man would be lucky to have you. Don’t forget that. Also, don’t sabotage yourself by wearing outfits that are too small. Get clothes that fit or you will look like you are trying to hard.

Beauty is an equal opportunity thing. You don’t have to be a rail thin supermodel to have it. You can be plus size and just as beautiful. You just have to be confident and believe in yourself.

Out Shopping…

So one of my favorite places to shop is Lane Bryant. After several years of driving over an hour away to go shopping, they put one in right here in our new mall. I was super excited…now broke all of the time, but excited…

I was surprised to see that their primary colors for Spring are orange and purple. What was so surprising, I guess I should be a bit more specific, was that it seemed like 75% of their clothing (dresses, shirts, skirts etc) were all either orange and purple or some shade of orange and purple. As much as I like orange and purple….I don’t like it enough to wear it every day.

Now don’t get me wrong, they had a few t-shirts that were grey, black, white, etc..but their new styles that came in are the primary ones I am speaking about.

They did have some really nice stuff, but I was a bit disappointed by the color schemes…so needless to say I didn’t buy anything.

If you need some really good fitting jeans, I recommend their right fit jeans. I have a big butt….lmao yep I said that, and I have trouble finding jeans that fit in the rear and in the waist, but the right fit jeans fit like they are suppose to. The only thing I recommend, if you are short like me, I am 5′3, don’t buy the petite…I hate to say it, but when I wear the petite fit jeans, I think they make me look heavier because of the way they are cut. I prefer to wear flare or bootcut jeans and with the petites they seem to make me look heavy all the way down. So I buy the average or regular even though they are a bit long, they look better. Gives me a reason to wear my sexy heels…lol

I have found a couple coupons I thought I would post in case you plan to do any online shopping:

I was a little disappointed at first. I couldn’t believe that some places are charging nearly $200 for a plus sized swimsuit! (more…)
