Critical People…

I have been debating for the last several hours about posting this rant on here. I finally decided I would just do it.

I’m a bit pissed off right now. So I will try to keep my ranting to a bit of a minimum, but understand I make no promises.

Can anyone tell me why it is the people in our lives that should not judge us, that should love us, accept us and encourage us the most that end up being the ones that hurt us the most? Don’t get me wrong, I have some pretty great people in my life that love me and accept me just the way I am. But it’s those few that don’t that cause the most pain. (more…)

Frustrated With My Pants!

Ok, so I am utterly irritated right now! I’m in one of my moods today. I am getting dressed for work. I started going through my pants. Bad idea on a day like today…but anyways, I’ve read a lot of different articles about buying the right pants for your figure..don’t do this, do this, buy these, don’t buy these…

I have to say, when you are a full figured shorter woman…buying pants just flat our SUCKS!

I prefer bootleg or flare, depending on the amount of flare..lol I also have some of Lane Bryants straight leg which I like too. I don’t think any of them actually look right on me…I am short but hate petite fit pants. ESPECIALLY if they are flare. It’s like they come in at the knee and then balloon back out and they make me look short and frumpy. I can’t stand looking short and frumpy…but if I go with average then they drag the ground most of the time and I tear the bottoms up.

Even my dress pants are like this. I’ve even had some altered and still hate how they look! I’ve come to the conclusion that when I shop, I’m not going to look at anything other than how my butt looks in them…if my butt looks good I am buying them…LOL!

I have some really great pants, jeans etc…but I don’t wear most of them cause I hate how they look.

One thing I will say…If I wear heels with my jeans, they look better than if I wear some other kind of shoe, but who the hell wants to wear heels all of the time…

Ok, just had to get that off my chest…lol

Tell me…when you buy your pants/jeans what do you look for? Are there certain styles you like better?

PLUS TEEN USA

PLUS TEEN USA

DEMAND FULFILLED WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF REGIONAL PAGEANTS

“Promoting Inner Beauty, Self-Acceptance, and Confidence That Permeates Outwardly”

For Immediate Release
P- 817-317-1992
Contact: Jacqueline Lawrence, National Director
Email: plusteenusa@yahoo.com
www.plusteenusa.com

United States- Because 50% of teenage girls in the United States are either already plus sized, or on the verge of becoming plus sized, Plus Teen USA acknowledged the need for a pageant and self-esteem building conference exclusively for plus size teens; its mission- to embrace, celebrate, empower, and transform plus teens across America.

The project works to help beautiful young ladies not get caught up in the lie that they are not worthy of the acceptance, recognition, celebration, and inspiration in which their thinner counterparts enjoy, but that they, too, deserve self-love, life fulfillment, and a pageant experience to express their own unique beauty.

The Plus Teen USA pageant, which promotes healthy living, gives young ladies an opportunity to collaborate with like minded youth, create lasting friendships, and to have a place in the beauty and fashion industry. The contestant crowned Plus Teen USA will be selected among young ladies ages 13 – 19, who wear a size 12 and above.

Plus Teen USA 2009, America’s first pageant and conference exclusively for plus size teens, was held during the weekend of October 23-25 in the DFW Metroplex, and was attended by the Style Network’s “RUBY”, who mentored the contestants and encouraged them to live life now in the skin they’re in. Sharon Quinn, also known as “The Original Runway Diva” from all three seasons of Oxygen’s MoNique’s Fat Chance, was the featured speaker and modeling trainer. Lynae Tucker from Grand Rapids, South Dakota took the crown.

Responding to the growing need for plus teens to recognize their inner beauty while becoming confident from the inside, out, Jacqueline Lawrence, founder and CEO, launched four Regional Pageants, which will be held during the month of July, 2010 in the cities of Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and New York, along with the National Pageant and Conference, which will again be held in the DFW Metroplex in October.

Plus teens across America will walk away with a renewed sense of self esteem, self awareness, self image, self acceptance… SELF. Plus Teen Regional titleholders will earn their region’s crown, and one plus size beauty will walk away with the title of Plus Teen USA 2010, a beautiful crown, a minimum $500.00 scholarship, the opportunity to represent plus teens all over the nation, and numerous other fantastic prizes.

Plus size teens interested in participating in a life transforming experience are encouraged to register online today to become contestants at www.plusteenusa.com.

A Daily Struggle

It’s so funny when you sit back and really think about the things that affect us on a day to day basis, what makes us who we are. Who do we strive to impress.

There are some days when I am so high on myself that nothing could pull me down. Days when I feel as beautiful as a Covergirl Model. When I know I look good and can feel it in my bones.

Then there are days when I feel like at any moment the flood gates are going to break and I am going to cry my eyes out. Like everyone is looking at me, and that I look awful and hate how I look and feel about myself.

There are days that I envision a goddess…and there are days that I envision a slob….

It’s hard. It’s hard to always be positive and love myself. I do a good job for the most part but it’s still hard. It’s something that I choose to work on daily. Something that I make a conscious effort at on a regular basis. Because I feel better when I like myself…

No amount of validation from other people on how pretty I am, how good I look etc, is going to make me happy…I have to learn to completely love myself and my flaws and learn that it really is ok to be me.

It’s a struggle everyday…some days are good and some days are bad…but today…I love me.

Plus Size Diva Spotlight and Company Spotlight

As many of you know I do a spotlight page for those Plus Size Diva’s that are well..awesome. LOL This month I have put up a new one. Her name is TroJah. One reason I picked her is that she has went a step further than just being a good role model and loving her curves.

She has an organization called Elite Plus Inc. You can visit it here: Elite Plus Inc

With her organization she is helping the young and the old to come together (sort of like a sisterhood) to get solutions to daily problems and teach (as well as learn) how to channel the negative energy into positive aspects of life.

Their mission statement which I love is:

Our deepest passion is getting Full Figured women and young girls to understand that we have a place in this world; and its at the top. Elite Plus desire is to recruit women who are confident in their own skin and be a seed of hope to those who struggle daily with the concept of self-love. We want to discover a new way of living life, and ultimately live a happy, healthy, and prosperous one.

Take time to check out her website! It’s such a wonderful idea and can’t wait to see where she takes her organization!

Plus Size Dresses – Get Rid of the Tent This Year and Look Sexy

You know, I spent an entire day last week shopping for a dress for a friend’s wedding. Needless to say I came home empty handed and ended up wearing a nice set of dress pants to the wedding. I found that many of the dresses made me look short and plumpy..which mind you, I am…lol BUT I wanted something that didn’t make me look like I was sporting a 7 month pregnant tummy…Diane has some really good advice on shopping for dresses this year. Be sure to visit her link as the site has some really cute dresses to choose from!

Plus Size Dresses, hug the right curves and hide the ones you don’t like.

Finally designers have started to create the right dresses for the curvy plus size girl, and yet are fashionable and make you feel great.

If you are a plus size girl, who has given up on shopping for any nice plus size dresses, or any clothes for that matter, and have resorted to the baggy t-shirts and sweat shirts, then it is time to dust yourself off and get yourself out there.

Many retailers have setup plus size departments, since they have realized that over 65% of North American women are considered plus size (size 14 and up) and yet, many retailers would display and stock single digit sized outfits and dresses. No wonder we would get stuck with the shapeless tent!

There are specialty plus size fashion stores, as well as retailers including plus size fashions in their departments. This is good for their bottom line, but no so good for your wallet, as you will find all kinds of nice outfits to make you feel great!

Change your shopping habits, and start accepting invites to those parties and galas, as you will be going to the ball this year. Check out this years plus size evening wear, especially nice, chic and trendy. Designers have figured out fashions that hug the right curves. But like anyone who goes shopping for clothes, you need to figure out the parts you want to enhance, and the parts you don’t.

Find a sparkly dress and wear some heels, it will enhance your legs, and your dress. Find some great accessories too, scarves, purses, shoes. These will all help to make you feel good. Designers have created styles, that suit the plus size girl, no more tugging at too tight waistlines, or pulling at too tight sleeves. Check out the styles, especially some of the flared sleeves and dresses, these fit well. Go shopping and check out the parties this year.

PLUS SIZE DRESSES click the link and get shopping online this year for that perfect dress. Designers are creating great form fitting plus size dresses to make you feel great. Article and website by Diane Palmer.

Feeling Pretty Good

The last few weeks I’ve been feeling really good about myself. I get up most mornings do my makeup and hair and get dressed. (I work from home so there are some days I head into the office in my jammies…lol) I have found that I feel so much better when I actually get fully done up.

It’s funny cause I’m so self conscious about how I look but when I put it out of my mind and just tell myself you are beautiful. I feel beautiful. So I try to do this as often as I can. When I start to let a negative thought creep in, I try to think of something else and not let it get to me.

It’s funny how they show these commercials on tv now where it has the little girl and it shows all of the ads with the skinny models and how the little girl looks like she feels bad about herself…we as women are programmed to believe that beauty is one size. When in fact, it is soooo not.

I posted on Myspace a week or so ago, I may be fat…but I am oh so fabulous! That’s my new motto…I am fabulous and I don’t have to be anything other than that!

Chin up my big gals…we are beautiful…and oh so FABULOUS!

Diva of the Month

I just wanted to post a quick note about the Diva of the Month. I’ve had issues getting in touch with people once they make their submissions, so instead of a monthly plus size diva. I’ve changed it to a Spotlight.

So from now there will be periodic Spotlights on Plus Size Diva’s. You can still use the link for the Diva of the Month to apply to be in the Plus Size Diva Spotlight.

Be sure to visit the newest Spotlight member Joan: http://www.plus-size-diva.com/plus-size-diva-joan/
