Odd Compliments

I have found that since I started this blog I feel a bit better about myself. This is very theraputic for me. Don’t get me wrong, I still have my ‘fat days’ where I would really like to crawl back in bed and not face the world. But not as many as usual…

So on to the fun part…my chance to rant and rave a bit. :)

I have a fabulous job. Totally love what I do and on occasion, get a chance to travel to seminars which are a thrill to be at. I get to meet many of our clients, rub elbows with my boss and a couple co-workers that I rarely see. (We are all virtual)

One of my co-workers is very beautiful, and thin.. :) and I get a kick out of watching guys hit on her. But the funniest thing is that these men come up with the craziest lines I have ever heard!

It’s also quite interesting how one compliment to her was taken as a sort of insult to me. I say this is interesting because on a ‘normal’ day it probably wouldn’t have bothered me. It gave me a chance to see how my own self esteem affects me in the craziest ways. Here this beautiful woman is getting a compliment from a guy and the only thing I can think is if I can get a way with smacking him in the back of the head..lol

So you want to know what it was huh? LOL

It was something along the lines of…Wow how do you stay in such great shape, it’s nice. Or something like that…and in my crazy little mind, I took it as…Hey..Thanks for not being fat like your friend…

Crazy HUH! It completely amazed me how much this bothered me and how personal I took it when it had absolutely NOTHING to do with me! Of course we laughed about it later that night when I told her.

It’s a real eye opener to how much of what you think about yourself, can affect the way you take comments. Never in a million years would I have thought that a compliment to a friend of mine would feel like an insult to me…

So as you can see…although I am working on making me better from the inside out…I have a long road ahead of me! :)
